Wonderful New Sports Car From Lamborghini Called The Aventador
If you are a true car fan then you have surely heard of the popular Italian sports car manufacturer Lamborghini. The tractor manufacturer that got mad at Enzo Ferrari for producing unreliable vehicles and decided he had enough of Ferrari unreliability and started his own sports car business. You have also almost certainly read about the Murcielago supercar and have seen plenty of pictures in publications and in plenty of rap video clips with guys performing and throwing money around the car.
The Murcielago has been one of the most profitable 12 cylinder Lamborghini up to now with unbelievable performance, capability, driving dynamics along with a gorgeous design. Due to these characteristics, the Murcielago has seen good results in the revenue department and has helped Lamborghini with huge cash-flow, which in turn has been utilized to produce various other automobiles, particularly the Gallardo.
As fantastic as the Murcielago is, it’s been available for nearly ten years and it requires a replacement unit. There continues to be much rumours about exactly what automobile is going to be exchanging the maturing Murcielago. The majority of automobile writers had thought the newest supercar from Italy will probably be called the “Jota” or it’ll have a numerical title “LP700-4″. Nonetheless, recent paperwork obtained from the U . S . trademark office uncover that Lamborghini has trademarked the name “Aventador”, which is probably the name of their latest supercar, that may either be uncovered at the Los Angeles auto show in late 2010 or early next year at one of the many European automobile shows. It’s quite probable that the new supercar is going to be named Aventador due to its Spanish origins, for anyone not really acquainted with exactly how Lamborghini names their automobiles, they use names of well-known Spanish bulls for their vehicles and Aventador is really a popular bull that is often known as the “bull of the sons of Don Celestino Cuadri Vides”.
The Aventador supercar is going to be the most powerful and quickest automobile ever produced by Lamborghini. Special attention has been paid to the weight of the car, since the more a car weighs the slower it will likely be and as a result a greater need for a larger engine. The Aventador is said to weigh five hundred lbs less than the Murcielago, making it one of the least heavy supercars which will be available in the marketplace in 2011. The car’s design has been analyzed in the wind-tunnel to reduce drag as much as possible which will help in the vehicle achieving top speed. The style of the automobile is said to be based on the Reventon supercar, which has been manufactured in very limited quantities and cost a whopping .25 million and is up to now the costliest Lamborghini.
The Aventador supercar will in all probability be utilizing the same powerplant as the Reventon which is a 6.5 liter V12 however will be capable of creating even more horsepower. The motor will certainly makeuse of direct injection to make 750 horsepower and accelerate to 60 mph in lightening quick 2.9 seconds. The motor is going to be connected to a 7-speed automated transmission which is to be shifted through Formula One style paddle shifters on the steering wheel, powering all 4 wheels.

4×4 The New Sports Car
Sports cars and 4x4s have a lot in common. And lately, for many drivers, the 4×4 has become the new sports car for several, proven reasons.
Today’s 4x4s offer superb performance capabilities. They have powerful, high horsepower, sports car-like engines. This gives them outstanding acceleration ability. So many 4×4 drivers love that rush of excitement that comes when they bang down on the pedal and start launching forwards, just like in the highest quality sports cars. In addition, a four wheel drive is much more versatile than a sports car due to its roominess.
More sophisticated and advanced braking and suspension technology along with much better improved tyres allows today’s 4x4s to truly drive like some of the finest, most expensive sports cars. They feel precise and supple when a driver sits behind the wheel. The traction always feels extremely solid. They can easily be driven at high speeds on major highways and drivers can effortlessly change from one lane to another with incredible stability and a sense of security equal to the best made sports cars. The stopping distances have become much shorter due to disc brakes being installed at all four wheels instead of less efficient drum brakes.
The majority of newer 4WD’s have been designed with such stylish impressiveness that their curves and exterior body lines resemble the sleek, aerodynamic look of many sports car models. Their styles have become so appealing that more and more buyers are choosing them just for that reason alone over much smaller sports cars. They’re designed with an elegance, flair and flashiness that’s very hard for buyers to resist. Most of this is a result of the body angles, but some of it has to do with the very attractive sports car styled wheels, many made out of lightweight titanium and coated with flamboyant chrome. These are enormous temptations to buyers who are considering choosing between a four wheel drive and a new sports car. And just like the sports car used to be, it’s now considered a status symbol to own and drive a gorgeous, new 4×4.
The newest sport 4x4s have become lighter and lighter due to the state-of-the-art manufacturing materials used at the building factories. This lightness gives the 4WD a true sports car feel, and it also makes the best of them quite efficient at the gas pump, just like the highest priced sports cars have become. Add to this the versatility of being able to carry large items and haul multiple people around in supreme comfort and it’s easy to see why the 4×4 is replacing the sports car as the more popular vehicle. Its lighter weight also contributes greatly to its agility and performance capabilities on the open road.
Most sports car drivers often drive at higher than average speeds and in an aggressive way. They also seem to be much more competitive on the road with other drivers as they weave from lane to lane. It’s a very similar pattern with 4WDs. Many buyers are risk takers as well and they enjoy the ruggedness aspect of a four wheel drive as much as they delight in its performance, agility and style. 4×4 drivers also tend to be more assertive on the road because they get into the psychological mindset that their 4WD is simply an invincible automotive machine, much like luxury car drivers feel. Because of this, 4×4 drivers have come to often feel a sense of driving superiority much the same as sports car drivers.
Modern Sports Cars
Article by Owen Jones
Sports cars are fantastic are they not? But the conception of sports cars for the public has not been around since the start of the modern car industry. In fact, the idea of modern sports cars is quite new. It was the Italian manufacturer, Enzo Ferrari, who conceived of of the idea and produced the first sports car for the public in 1929.
Enzo Ferrari was the trail-blazer of the modern sports car industry, but it soon caught on as rich men all around the world sought to own a special, speedy car, to set himself above the general public, who still cannot afford new modern sports cars.
Ferrari’s modern sports cars are famous all over the world. People are fascinated by the designs of Ferrari’s sports cars and racing cars. Ferrari has been in Formula One racing since it began and they are the most well-liked racing team of all time. The Ferrari team has included such famous names as Michael Schumacher and Alberto Ascai, who quickly became popular heroes.
The flagship of the Ferrari sports cars is the F430, which is a two-seater coupe. It is continuously being enhanced and re-engineered. In fact, it has lately undergone a major revamp and now it is the most sought after modern sports car of the year. It is not only exceptionally beautiful, but it has fantastic performance data as well. The price tag is very affordable for a car of this class. However, at 0,000 plus, most people could not afford a new set of tyres for it.
The most recent Ferrari is the Superamerica hardtop convertible, which sells for 0,000. It became instantly sought after when it appeared in Ferrari showrooms across America. It has a fearsomely high-capacity V12 engine, which produces unbelievable performance. The engine is based on their Formula One racing cars and comes with gear changing paddles on the steering wheel.
The roof of the Superamerica is beautiful and practical. It is made from electro chromic glass and carbon fibre and can be removed to convert the Superamerica from a stylish coupe into a chic open top sports car in a matter of minutes. The drop-top Superamerica is one of the most attractive modern sports cars on the planet.
Ferrari acquired another leading sports car company, Maserati, in 1997. Since then Maserati’s output from their production lines and the popularity of its cars has soared. The public just cannot get enough of Maserati’s modern sports cars like the Quattroporte at ,000 and the Spyder GT convertible, which costs a very affordable ,000.
There are other producers of modern sports cars such as Dodge with it’s Viper, Chevrolet with its Corvette, Lamborghini and the Murcielago and Porche with its Boxter and 0,000 Carrera.
If you cannot afford any of these modern sports cars, you could buy a kit car. With a kit car you can detach the shell of a relatively cheap sports car, like a Boxter, and replace it with an exact reproduction body of say a Lamborghini Murcielago in fibre glass.
The Beauty That Sports Cars Possess
Cars, in general, possess both form and function. The designers did not compromise aesthetics with performance.
However, there is something about sports cars that make them stand out when it comes to beauty. And we are not talking about external features only.
There is more to physical features like, sleekness of the car that determine its beauty.
Here are some of the characteristics that endear sports cars to car enthusiasts.
- Sports cars have attitude at first glance.
Sports cars speak the attitude that they possess. They are not like mere cars whose presence can be ignored. They captivate the eyes of those who see them. They imply that thrill and enjoyment van be expected when their hands are those that control the wheel.
Sports cars stand above other cars that are seen every day, primarily because the designs imply what they are capable of doing. A sleek look really matches a car with sleek activities.
]]>
- Sports cars possess greater power.
Their power comes from their more powerful engines and has other specifications than other the cars have. A sports car can do more than ordinary tasks because of the features that only they possess.
- Sports cars are made for driving pleasure.
Ordinary cars make driving monotonous and boring, while on the other hand, sports cars primarily aim to give the drivers a “high” feeling of speed and control. Only sports cars can provide that need for drivers who seek adventure.
Sports cars bring the thrill back to driving. They express what other cars can not. Sports cars are not designed just for practicality, but for pleasure too.
- Sports cars are made for drivers who enjoy their ‘wild side’.
Drivers do have the need to express this ‘wild side’. Sports cars make any road a venue to satisfy those needs. Only sports cars can match the ‘wildness’ that drivers innately have. For that reason, sports cars perfectly compliment the child in every driver.
- Sports cars have evolved and improved through the years.
Drivers appreciate the improvements that have been made to sports cars. You could say that sports car technology has infinite possibilities. The stereotypes of sports cars have long been debunked. Those limits have been crossed. The only thing that car enthusiasts can do is to watch as these improvements unfold before their very eyes.
- Sports cars make their owners feel good about themselves.
Sports cars are lifeless. They cannot feel proud because they are beautiful, but their owners take pride in having them.
With all these things said about the intrinsic and extrinsic beauty that sports cars possess, only a person who does not appreciate their beauty and/or speed will not opt to get one.
Basic Tips in Sports Car Racing
Engine Start – prepare the engine by lifting the start switch latch that is usually located at the driver’s side. The engine should be in operation once the announcer has started the countdown. Lightly step on the accelerator and feel the engine running. Another way of making sure that the engine is ready is by looking at the tachometer – it changes and moves from zero once the switch has been started.
Throttle – racing a sports car means 750 to 850 horsepower. Imagine the feeling behind that little wheel; it’s the breathtaking feel of total power. The secret for continuous power is for the car to have enough gas to rev up the whole machine. Fishtailing could be one of the problems when racing and to keep this from happening use a little effort to control the accelerator.
Engine Transmission – an automatic transmission sports car allows the system to automatically set the clutch. This is for amateur sports car racers so that they do not have to change gears manually. The sports car will be smart enough to operate the transmission for the driver. The traditional H symbol is used for manual transmission sports car.
Walls – during the race, it is unavoidable to bump the sidewalls. This is not a cause for alarm. The sports car driver just has to shift the gear into reverse to move away from the wall. Sooner or later the car should be back on track.
Comfy on the Track – always stay beneath the white line of the lane while at 100 miles per hour. This is so the driver can keep the other cars from turning into the back end of the sports car. Once the speed of other cars is met, tag along back on the track.
Presence of Mind – stay focused and keep both hands on the steering wheel. Steer the wheel at a slow but sure pace, do not exaggerate the turn.
Halt during Emergency – part of keeping focused is always remembering that there is an emergency button in every sports car when there is a need to stop. It is situated in the center of the dash and is used when the car needs a motion stop. This button immediately stops the car stimulator.
Bear in mind that even in this situation, the sports car can still be driven until the end of the race. Be alert and try mastering the race track if time permits, but always think of safety.
Are Sports Cars Losing Their Appeal?
Article by Gregg Hall
Sports cars are widely loved, but a quick survey of one’s morning commute will show they are not the most popular vehicle type on the road. Four door sedans, SUV’s, practical pickup trucks, and small economy cars dominate the automotive landscape. Sports cars seem to be an increasingly rare commodity. This is because other types of automobiles are increasingly able to take the best aspects of the sports car experience while avoiding some pitfalls inherent to the smaller speedsters.
For a long time, high performance was ruled by sports cars. Manufacturers used their sports car line to showcase new developments and design elements. Today, however, it appears many of these great qualities can be easily adapted to other car types.
The lighter construction of today’s cars, coupled with improvements in technology, has allowed family sedans to perform almost on par with sports cars. In fact, many of today’s “standard” offerings outperform the higher end sports cars of only a few years ago. Even SUV and trucks boast technology and performance that were unthinkable only a short while ago.
The automobile has evolved to a point where virtually any type of car can capture sports car technology. Regular production cars handle better than ever before and the only performance advantages to sports cars can only be realized under extreme driving conditions few will ever encounter. A sports car may hug a lynchpin turn at high speeds, for instance, better than the family sedan, but one must wonder how often any family will be trying to set speed records on mountain roads.
While today’s regular production models can steal some of the sports cars’ thunder, they can also offer some unique advantages over their smaller counterparts. Sports cars are notorious for their small size. Although this helps in handling and speed, it makes longer drives less comfortable while making every day use less practical. Larger cars have a utilitarian advantage that sports cars simply cannot match.
It was once sensible to trade some comfort for superior performance, but with modern standard autos now performing so well, the tradeoff seems less and less sensible. This seems apparent when one looks at the kind of cars people are buying: larger vehicles with greater seating capacity.
Additionally, the limited utility of sports cars makes them increasingly rare due to economic considerations. Few families today can afford to purchase and maintain a hobby car. By and large, people expect to use the vehicles they purchase on an every day basis. The old days of having a little convertible in the garage to use for occasional bursts of summer fun no longer seems like an economically feasible diversion for most people.
Originally, sports cars were designed specifically with rallies and contests in mind. Auto producers tested their design and mechanical skills against one another as they sought out ways to increase automobile performance. Later, sports cars became popular for mainstream drivers who were seeking greater performance from their vehicles. Lately, however, regular production cars have evolved and now come with the higher performance parts and construction once reserved for sports cars.
This may spell the eventual end for traditional sports cars, although producers are sure to maintain a small fleet of developmental performance cars with which to test new ideas. In the end, we may see a return to the sports cars of yesterday–cars designed specifically and almost exclusively to test new ideas, as opposed to popular cars for the larger public.
With each passing year, it seems, one notices fewer and fewer true sports cars on the road. This trend is not likely to be reversed any time soon, as more practical alternatives exist and the performance gap is shortened. Although the true sports car will probably never completely disappear, it is likely to become increasingly less visible to the public.
Learn About Sports Cars Before You Buy One
Article by Lee Dobbins
Nothing beats the exhilaration brought about by speed. Anyone who has ever driven an automobile has at least dreamt of taking the role of Steve McQueen in “Bullitt”, getting into a high-speed car chase. If not Bullitt, each driver has dreamt playing Michael Caine’s Charlie Cosker in “The Italian Job”, driving that gorgeous convertible into the very heart of the gold heist.. Anyone who has ever taken control of the wheel has at least once dreamt of driving not just to get from point A to point B but to go from point A to B in flair. And driving a fantastic sports car fulfills this dream.
In making an automobile or any land vehicle for that matter, a lot of factors are being considered: cost of material, safety, efficiency, and performance are only some of these at play on the drawing board of a car maker. A sports car however, in definition gives priority to performance above all other factors. By performance, speed is usually the first thing that comes to mind. Speed relies heavily on the power of the car’s engine.
Most sports cars do have muscle engines which can outrun even the fastest sedans easily. A sports car engineer therefore puts it first on the list of factors that he has to consider: how to travel the distance with the least amount of time possible.
But of course, even if performance is a cut above every other consideration, the other factors are never neglected. Safety cannot be compromised, because even the fastest sports car needs a driver on the wheel at all times, and safe at all times. Besides, everyone wants to drive from start to finish in one piece, after all. So a performance-oriented vehicle must pay attention to the other factors and not rely solely on the car engine’s power.
A number of sports cars compensate for a not-so-powerful engine with a light body, paying due respect to the laws of physics: the lighter the mass, the smaller amount of force required to move this mass. This is also the reason why a sports cars usually are smaller, and do not have backseats. If these cars do have backseats, these are not as convenient as a sedan’s and is only a throwaway to please the insurance companies. One may also notice that a sports car quite often only has two doors, and it shares the same reason as that of the backseat.
Because it can outperform any of the regular four-seater cars out in the market, sports cars are sold obviously at a higher price. Another reason is because quality materials are almost always being used to withstand the heavier wear and tear in this type of vehicle. This also explains why purchasing a sports car remains a pipe dream to most car enthusiasts. But it doesn’t have to be that way anymore. It is easier to get one’s hands on the steering wheel of a sports car than most people think. One just has to have the imagination and acumen to do so.
Buying a sports car does not have to mean going to your nearest car dealer and getting a brand new vehicle off the rack. There are quite a handful of these vehicles beyond the dealer’s garage, in very good condition and sold at a lower price. You can always check out car auctions and watch out of sports car models being sold at pancake rates. Pre-owned sports cars are always available on your local car magazine or website; sometimes it just requires you to pay more attention to these ad placements; you’ll never know when the sports car of your dreams is right under your nose.
Buying second-hand sports cars maybe the best way to go if one is facing monetary constraints. If a pre-owned sports car is taken cared of properly, it will give one the same excitement that a new one can provide.
There are also private sellers particularly of sports cars. More often than not, owners of these sports cars found themselves short of cash and are willing to dispose of their sports cars at considerably low prices, much to their resistance. Desperation is in a way good for buyers on the look-out: they get their dream vehicles at bargain prices.
And once you have spotted the car of your dreams, it is wise to exercise routine vehicle inspection, the way one does when buying a regular car. Do not forget to visually inspect the engine, the interior and the body. It is a folly to disregard these simple reminders, especially when buying a pre-owned sports car. You as a buyer can easily assess the condition of the car, how well it was maintained by the owner, simply by looking at it. Then, the proof of the pudding is in the eating: do not forget to test-drive your prospect sports vehicle before closing the purchase. Give it a go and see how it feels. If it feels good – and you feel like Steve McQueen in Bullitt – it is time to call that sports car your own.

According to cars.uk.msn.com, Harmon said that this project is a scholastic endeavour in which they are simply trying to explore materials, learn, teach, share ideas and stimulate the creativity. Wood has a higher strength-to-weight ratio than aluminium or steel. Harmon add that the super car designed to push boundaries and prove that wood have good potential as the material.
With this project he hopes that it will help him to find a good job in design. If The Splinter makes for production, it would be a nice leap and maybe the creators could have an illustrious career like British car company, Morgan who also making cars from wood where the company then became one of the most successful British specialist car makers until today.

Sports Car may be defined as a car with a sporty look, meaning an automobile which is short in height as compared to other cars to the extent that it almost touches the ground, having a powerful engine and light weight. A typical sports car has two seats, two doors, rear-wheel drive and with high speed. It is in fact a speedy car that needs to be handled quite efficiently and accurately. There are a number of popular companies that manufacture a perfect sports car like Ferrari, BMW’s mid-sized sports car, Porsche, Lotus etc. However a sports car consists of a light-weight powerful engine with ultra modern suspension and a firm chassis due to these features the sports car that is light weight performs more accurately as compared to heavy sports cars. Initially the cars were just considered an important mode of transport for carrying people and goods from one place to the other, and were manufactured to provide its core utility of transporting the people with comfort. Later on these cars soon became a craze amongst the people and a great fascination to drive it with speed and race, apart from its basic usefulness. This was the new era to welcome the sports cars. It was a great risk to manufacture a speedy car with powerful engine with advanced technologies to improve its speed performance. Highly powerful engine with great speed was fixed into the light weight body of the car which was a great risk to the drivers as it needed to be handled most efficiently.
